Gert Kist | Bird of Paradise II
photographic art, different sizes, 2013

Beautiful men are the subject for photographer Gert Kist (1963). He’s inspired by the Italian painter Caravaggio, both in terms of eroticism and use of light. As in the paintings, his works use strong contrast between light and dark. ‘Photography is writing with light’ says the photographer. Kist experiments with materials: he’s printed work on brushed aluminium and reclaimed wood.
